About West Coast Paddle Sports

Located in sunny San Diego, this local shop stocks a healthy inventory of boards from Infinity, 404, Brawner, Jimmy Lewis, Starboard, Kings, Riviera, Boga, SIC, Lahui Kai, Surftech, Doyle, and Red Paddle Co. In addition to one of the most extensive selections of boards one can find anywhere around, West Coast Paddle Sports offers an equally impressive selection of paddles from top brands such as Quickblade, Werner, Kialoa, Riviera, and Hippostick. In addition to boards and paddles, the shop sells a selection of gear, to include leashes, PFDs, fins, covers and more.

West Coast is San Diego’s original SUP shop and boasts a knowledgeable staff ready and able to help outfit you with the correct gear to ensure you enjoy your paddling experience. They are located about one mile from beautiful Mission Bay and its wide expanse of protected flat water paddling,  4 miles to the Pacific Ocean (accessible via Mission Bay, if desired), and five miles from San Diego Bay.

There are not any food or beverages available onsite, but visitors are welcome to enjoy a free Red Vine from the jar on the counter! If you are hungry you can find numerous bars and upscale restaurants close by as well as fast foods options.  Try Kono’s in Pacific Beach for breakfast if you are visiting in the morning. The shop caters to all levels of paddlers from beginners to advanced – customers have the opportunity to participate in group paddles, board demo days, races, and surfing at nearby breaks.

The West Coast Paddle Sports sponsors a number of local events, such as the Sunday-Sunday-Sunday events in the summer, as well as the Thanksgiving Turkey Paddle and Potluck.  There are also at least a dozen other quality events on Mission Bay throughout the year.

For the closest launching spots, feel free to put in anywhere on Mission Bay, but paddlers mostly frequent Bahia Point.  You may also wish to explore Spanish Landing on San Diego Bay.  For surfing, head to Tourmaline Surfing Park in Pacific Beach or pay a visit to the scenic La Jolla Shores.
