About SUP to You
Located in scenic Laguna Beach, California, the shop stocks a quiver of boards from SIC, JP Australia, Laird Stand Up and Bote; accompanied by paddles from Werner, Kialoa, Laird Stand Up, SIC, and JP Australia. SUP to You’s model is to allow their customers the opportunity to “Test Drive Before You Buy”. The shop offers privately scheduled demos where you can test out multiple premium boards side by side before deciding on your purchase. They run a free demo at Baby Beach in Dana Point Harbor each Saturday from 9:00 – 3:00, in addition to surf demo days on Saturdays when there’s a swell! They also host a weekly paddle group called SUP M through The Daniel Plan at Saddleback Church.
Their primary customer base is recreational paddlers and the shop is located just down the street from some of the most amazing paddling spots on the West Coast. Laguna Beach is a shore break, so once you get past the first set of waves, it’s all open ocean, and the nearby coastline is filled with coves and reefs just waiting to be explored. North Laguna is the most popular place to paddle and Divers Cove is the best place to launch (waves break on a reef for smooth launching). Parking is plentiful at Heisler Park, directly above Divers Cove, which is accessible via a path that goes directly to the beach.
The shop does not sell any refreshments, but provides free water, juice and protein bars to customers. Numerous restaurants and bars can be found nearby within walking distance. A favorite hot spot is The Deck, which is a bar & grill right on the beach. There is an entrance off the beach where you can leave your boards on the sand and keep an eye on them from the bar while eating a fish taco and knocking back the beverage of your choosing before paddling back out for a sunset paddle!
Laguna Beach itself has yet to host a SUP event, however, the seaside community is located between Dana Point and Newport Beach, both of which host numerous paddling events throughout the year. Those visiting Newport beach may also be interested in whale watching california.
