California State Parks (State Parks) is alerting the public about park units that may be affected by a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) by Southern California Edison due to red flag warnings. The potential power shutoff may begin this Friday, October 18 and may last through the weekend.
The state park units affected include the following:
-
El Capitan and Refugio State Beaches: A complete power shutoff may force the closure of campgrounds and/or park units. There will be no potable water, restrooms and shower facilities. If needed, State Parks will attempt to have portable restrooms and hand wash stations available.
-
Gaviota State Park: A power shutoff may cause the closure of restrooms and potable water. The campground will not be affected since it is closed for the season. If needed, the park may be closed.
Those who have camping reservations will be contacted by ReserveCalifornia if campgrounds are closed. Please be sure to check the park unit webpages for the latest updates.
