About Stand Up Outfitters

In addition to SUPs and paddles, Stand Up Outfitters sells a wide range of accessories for boards and paddles, wetsuits and neoprene gear, mens and womens athletic and paddling apparel, Kaenon sunglasses, Shelta hats, Carver skateboards, Indo Boards, hydration packs and more. Paddlers can also grab bottled water, energy drinks and energy bars before or after their paddle. The shop’s clientele is notable for its diversity and lack of any one dominant demographic in a vibrant community where customers range from athletic grandmas to elite athletes.

Around Town

New Bern is located at the confluence of two rivers and has a two-block section of downtown perfect for eating and shopping. Start your day at The Baker’s Kitchen with french toast and delicious butter syrup. You can pop in for lunch at 247 Craven and try the famous PBT (Pimiento Cheese, Bacon, Tomato). For an evening meal, look no further than The Chelsea. They have great beer on tap and consistently good food. While you are visiting, don’t forget to say hello to Ed at Trent River Coffee for a funky coffee shop experience.

Paddling Scene

Stand Up Outfitter’s shop at The Landing, their waterfront location,  is open to friendly paddlers looking for a spot to launch their boards. Public access points include Pollock Street, Glenburnie Park, Flanners Beach, Creekside Park and Brices Creek.

Training Opportunities

The shop offers lessons from its qualified staff. Paddlers also have the opportunity to participate in group training sessions during the annual Spring Training Camp – Weekly practices and training schedule runs from February through April. Once spring training is finished, get ready to join the crew for their Thursday Socials – a weekly group paddle that runs from May through November.
