About Northshore Shop & Boards
Steeped in a friendly, small town family atmosphere, Northshore is owned by operated by the parents of Sonni Hönscheid – one of the world’s top stand up paddlers and champion of the Molokai to Oahu channel crossing. Located on the rocky shores of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, the shop sells Northshore boards designed and shaped by Sonni’s father, Jürgen Hönscheid, a former professional windsurfer and master shaper. Quickblade and SIC paddles are available, alongside a selection of accessories for stand up paddling, surfing and windsurfing. Popular items include Northshore branded apparel, Excel wetsuits, Clayton Surfboards, Simmer Sails and additional products from Dakine, Rainbow Sandals, Ocean & Earth, Chiemsee, Chinook and FCS to name a few. The shop does not sell food or beverages, but do not despair, there are numerous scenic and memorable locations nearby beckoning you to stop by after your session on the water.
Northshore Shop & Boards draws customers from both local residents and visiting tourists. Many visitors to the island return every year during their vacations and become friends of the family business. Although the shop does not offer rentals or lessons, you are guaranteed to receive sound advice on paddling conditions and the area in general from the highly knowledgeable owners.
Around Town
Lajares is the “Paia” of Fuerteventura – a reference to the charming, small town on Maui’s North Shore where the family spent a considerable amount of time during Jürgen’s windsurfing career. The center and all three shores are each within 10 minutes reach where one can find a number of additional surf shops, orginal bars and restaurants away from the main tourist areas.
Paddling Scene
Northshore Shop & Boards is a short 10 minute trip from the West, North and East coasts of Fuerteventura. One of the best places to go to launch your SUPs is at Corralejo Bay which looks out upon the Isla de Lobos, a small island to the northeast of Fuerteventura.

Events in the Area
The Fuerteventura SUP Challenge is held each September. Previous Challenges have been a two day affair featuring a technical beach race on Saturday along the island’s west coast, followed by an approximately 11 km distance race on Sunday from Corralejo Bay out to Isla Lobos and back.
