About Kalavida Surf Shop
Located on the bank of Kalamalka Lake, Kalavida boasts a claim to being Canada’s first SUP specific shop. We have not independently verified their claim to fame, but one thing is certain, Kalavida is fully stocked (and stoked) year-round. While a lot of this success can be put down to marketing methods such as lead generation and brand awareness, it’s also down to knowing what people want. The shop has an inventory of stand up paddleboards from Starboard, Naish, SIC, Rogue, Tahoe and TwinFish. Paddle brands available at Kalavida Surf Shop include Quickblade, Werner and Kialoa. Customers to the rural outpost will also find a great selection of SUP accessories, surfwear, Tiki Bits, beach items, hammocks from prominent brands such as Dakine, RipCurl, Roxy, Reef, Sanuk and more.
Kalavida Surf Shop is conveniently located at the beach on the shore of Kalamalka Lake. The lake itself is a deep glacial lake approximately 16k long and 3k wide with a max depth of 142 meters. The shop’s clientele is a healthy mix of locals and tourists, as well as the occasional SUP celebrity – Lina Augaitis is a Coldstream resident. Paddlers can grab a bite to eat next door to the shop after their day on the water, which can include any number of locations around Kalamalka Lake or the surrounding lakes and rivers.
The shop offers a variety of SUP skills clinics from introductory courses to high performance training and even has a special Junior SUP Program with Lina Augaitis. There are a collection of events held nearby during the summer months, including the Kalamalka Classic SUP Festival, AquaTerra (a SUP and Run Relay) and their own Summer SUP Series.
