Josh Crayton Takes Reins as New SCORA Race Committee Chair

by admin

From SCORA:

Josh Crayton began paddling for the Lanakila Outrigger Canoe Club in the summer of 1980.  His older sister Erin married Al Ching, founder of Lanakila.  Josh relies on Al, and Jane, his wife of 20 years, to this day to provide moral guidance and unconditional support.  His most cherished racing moments are the many SCORA  and Winter Ocean Series races enjoyed with his son Garrett, his daughter Heather, and his nephew and his wife Danny and Leah.

Over the years Josh has coached Lanakila’s junior and men’s teams; served as president of Lanakila; and served as head coach for POCA when Southern California participated in IVF Events in Long Beach, Sacramento, Calgary and Tahiti.   You can find Josh most mornings at the Newport Aquatic Center chasing friends and the next generation of paddlers around Newport harbor on his OC-1.

Josh is looking forward to the challenge the Race Committee Chair role presents. He is excited to celebrate 60 years of outrigger racing in Southern California this summer. And asks that each paddler join him in making 2019 the best SCORA racing season ever.
