The Diego is billed as Costa’s most advanced pair of sport performance sunglasses. A flexible spring hinge system connects the frames to maximize comfort and a set of vents facilitate continuous airflow around the lenses to prevent fogging. Costa also incorporated a system of sweat management channels to direct the sticky stuff away and give the shades the opportunity to deliver a comfortable experience during aquatic adventures. Most importantly, the Diego is equipped with top and side lens shields to eliminate light creeping in and topped off with Costa’s colored polarized lenses for 100% UV protection. Simply put, a lot of thought and tech went into making these sunglasses performance ready.

Our Take

PaddleXaminer was bestowed with the opportunity to put a pair of Costa Diego sunglasses through the paces this summer. While the global COVID-19 pandemic restricted our ability to get on the water at times, we managed to get in enough reps to know the Diego is not your ordinary pair of sunglasses. Costa’s craftsmanship and commitment to delivering performance driven styles is well known and the Diego is a fitting complement to this legacy. We wore a pair of Diego’s extensively while paddling surfski off the Los Angeles coast and the Diego simply delivered. The blue polarized lenses are perfect for open water paddling and the Diego’s innovative air vent system kept the lenses fog free throughout countless high output paddling sessions. Supremely comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, PaddleXaminer is pleased to give the Costa Diego two thumbs up!
