Voted Hawaii’s Best Stand Up Paddle shop by customers, Blue Planet is a go-to SUP destination for stand up paddlers in Honolulu. Their clientele is roughly a 70/30 split between locals and out of state visitors and the knowledgeable staff is there to answer any questions you may have about the sport. The shop has a quiver of boards from Blue Planet, Starboard, SIC Maui, Kazuma, Riviera and Rock Solid Hawaii lined up next to an extensive array of paddles, to include: Blue Planet, Kialoa, Ke Nalu, Quickblade, Starboard, Werner and ZRE.
Rentals are available and the shop is located a short five minute drive from Ala Moana Beach park, an ideal location for stand up paddling. All rentals include car pads and straps that you can use to transport your boards. The shop also offers a delivery and pick up service for SUP rentals within Honolulu for a flat rate of $25. Blue Planet Surf – SUP HQ has a huge selection of SUP accessories, as well as bodysurfing gear, hardboards, GoPro gear, roof racks and more. There are also refreshments available on-site, making it convenient to replenish your thirst before or after your session. For additional sustenance, there is a Jamba Juice, Starbucks and Wahoo’s Tacos nearby.
Training
Blue Planet Surf – SUP HQ offers lessons, in addition to weekly training groups which meet every Wednesday. The Wednesday sessions alternate between a downwinder or a time trial depending on the local conditions. The shop has an extensive try before you buy program with over 50 demo boards available for rent. They also offer full credit of your rental fees towards a board purchase and are even willing to turn any new board into a demo board upon request.
