Surf to Sound Race Cancelled, Hurricane Cleanup Ongoing

A message from the Race Director

To our friends,
As you know, Hurricane Florence severely impacted the Wrightsville Beach community and continues to do so as damages around the area are still being uncovered and assessed. Due to extensive damages to the property of our host sponsor and unstable water conditions, the Wrightsville Beach Paddle Club has decided to cancel the NC Surf to Sound this year. While we are sad to make such an announcement, we feel the race would not be the same away from its home at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort and we want to ensure your safety in the water. With one less race on the books, our club is dedicated to making our Spring race, Carolina Cup, even bigger and better than previous years and we look forward to dedicating our full attention to our largest event. If you have already registered for Surf to Sound, refunds will be given and addressed in the following week. Please stay tuned for another email on how to receive your refund and thank you for your patience and understanding in advance as we address these. See you in April!

Thanks,
Mark Schmidt
Race Director
