Grueling Event Attracts World Best Athletes to Paddle Around NYC!
On Saturday, August 11, the Surfers’ Environmental Alliance (SEA) will host its twelfth annual SEA Paddle NYC, a grueling 25-mile event that attracts elite athletes and covers the dangerous waters circling Manhattan…all for charity.
The SEA Paddle NYC will kick off with registration at approx. 7:00 AM (race starts at 8:00 AM) at the Brooklyn Bridge Beach, and paddlers will begin crossing the finish line at Chelsea Piers at 1:00 PM.
Paddlers, or teams, each raise a minimum of $1,000 with all proceeds benefitting several autism nonprofits and SEA. SEA works on environmental issues inherent to the surfing community and provides support to children with autism and their families. Since 2007, SEA has raised almost $3.2 million, with 100 percent of pledges going directly to the charities. This year’s autism partners include Surfers Healing, Surfers for Autism, Autism Family Services of NJ, POAC, and the Best Day Foundation.
“As one of the world’s top-ten, stand-up-paddle events, SEA Paddle NYC draws elite paddlers from all over the world to test their endurance and raise funds for charity. We are so proud of the paddlers, volunteers and donors who continue to believe in our organization and help us put on this incredible event each year,” says SEA Executive Director Richard Lee.
Paddlers can register to participate online at http://seapaddlenyc.org. Pre-registration for the event will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, at Fish Market Restaurant at the South Street Seaport.
SEA Paddle NYC is proudly supported by ClifBar, Renaissance NY Midtown Hotel, South Shore Paddleboards, TIG Advisors, Hornet and Jamian’s of Red Bank to name a few. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, contact Richard Lee email@example.com.
